Labrador updates

20 Dec

Labrador was one of the first few places i realised how much interest i had in intertidal organisms.

to go back there yesterday after so long was exciting for me. took a walk along..

this tree was infested with lichens. if that is what it is…

a macro view.. that is gross…. it looks like polyps…

and this interesting plant, with its fruits under each leaf stalk.

we spotted this large spider web. it wasnt flat. it was rounded on its back. it was interesting to see how the primary web was made rounded by the pulling of the web at certain parts. of course my camera couldnt capture the roundedness… this was the best i could do…

and then i caught a glimpse of something moving in the woods. (shooo…) its a bird! just when i was commenting that spotting birds was such an art! i actually have an ounce of that art! shot wasnt clear. but it was still great!

and then, straight to the eastern side.

a huge (and i mean HUGE) pile of sand. some sort of land reclamation going on.

forest still growing just as good.

a bunch of seaweed just floating.

needle like fish. either a halfbeak or needle fish…

someone caught a big flower crab. RIP.

and of course, where there’s fishing, there’s lose nets and rubbish.

a cute shore bird. not sure if this is a sandpiper…

hermit crab

another flowercrab

some sort of sea snail

Halophilia ovalis (spoon seagrass) growing

young Enhalus acoroides (tape seagrass) growing. and some anemone.

we have sponge!!! growing back again… yay!

and more evidence of marine growth…

coral restoration going on track right…

with a nice sunset at labrador nature reserve…

we end our trip…
