Kampong Lorong Buangkok – flora and fauna

07 Nov

here’s the 2nd part of my kampong buangkok adventures.. sry for the delay since its been nearly 2 weeks since our trip..

as usual, kampongs bring out loads of insects and stuff… i dont think i caught as many as i could on camera because, there was just too much to see. what i have are what caught my eye..

dragonfly high up on a branch..

spider on a flower.. and im thinking it has zero interest in the food the flower can offer. its probably looking around for some ants..

an insect on another flower.

banana – interesting that i managed to see banana at such a low height… check out the remains of stigma left on the flower of the banana after pollination and fertilization.

the ball like thing you see below is not the actual melon fruit. it cant be the fruit cos the flower hasnt even blossomed. the only other possibility is that is has a superior ovary.

the grandma who grew jackfruits… 🙂

many nice flowers..

bracket fungus..

this lady apparently loves gardening, and she created this overhead with just twigs and bending plants..

for some reason, this tree just makes me smile…. the texture i guess… it calms my mind..

not forgetting the most memorable insect that made us remember our 2 hours there – dear mozzies, i hope you had a good feed..

if you are going there, dont forget to either wear long pants and sleeves or bring insect repellant. for someone like me whom mozzies usually prefer not to suck blood from, i got bitten quite a bit.

directions on how to go there are on my other blog post on kampong lorong buangkok.

ive explored ubin a few times. still never can get enough yea.. 🙂
bt timah to bt panjang/macritchie/upper pierce to bt panjang – done a few times.
semakau – ive got to see the shore thanks to NParks and team seagrass. but i want to tent there at night. the ppl there said that there is almost zero light pollution at night and you can see MANY stars in the sky..! never done it yet cos.. havent gotten down to organising something there…

ive never gone to the ponggol beach area before…
the railway track is the next place im trying to see. after NSS posted pics on FB abt The Green Corridor. i must check it out!

here’s a new angle for ubin. go kayaking through the mangroves.
    awesome tranquility.
i did it last month and i was amazed.

    camping at semakau sounds fantastic!
    hope you do it soon.
