NG lessons
i usually dont watch National Geographic… i rather spend that time watching other ‘no educational value’ shows…
but yesterday, for the 15 min my bro insisted he wanted to watch NG, i got so interested cos it was abt the sea…. and the organisms they showed were so cool!!!
Flounder

flounders have both their eyes on one side of the body. then their mouth is perpendicular to their eyes.. (look carefully at the top pic, you can see that clearly) funny thing is, when they are born, they have one eye on each side. and as they metamorphosize, one eye migrates (!!!!!) to the other side! and its really well camouflaged.
frogfish

the frogfish walks! and its gills are behind the legs… and it walks.. it literally walks on the ground…
lionfish
the distinguishing thing abt lionfish is that they have 3 more dorsal fins on their head. and the first one is used as a bait to attract prey. it actually really looks like a small fish bait. lionfish stings.. and its painful.. ppl affected are mostly those who dive near coral reefs, and step on them… cos they are well camouflaged..
mimic octopus

nevermind the fact that octopuses are one of the smartest sea creatures around… this new octopus can even play charades……. the mimic octopus acts like sea snakes, some kinds of fish like lionfish, and flounders…… and of course, it looks like an octopus too… and it changes colour to aid in its already powerful defense…….
